Blackpink & Dua Lipa Confirmed Collaboration
With K-pop growing bigger in the U.S, more and more collabs between Korean artist and U.S artist are in the making. On Tuesday, September 4, 2018, Dua Lipa announced a collaboration with the charming girl group Blackpink. Dua Lipa shared that she will be releasing a super deluxe album that incorporates collabs with artists and named Blackpink as one of them. Lipa states the song she worked on with Blackpink is titled “Kiss and Make Up.”
As a fairly new girl group, Blackpink has never had any international collabs before. Since Blackpink stands as a fresh new group, the girls barely have any collabs with other artist so having an international collab with an artist as big as Dua Lipa is growing as a hot topic in the K-pop industry.
Blackpink & Dua Lipa Relationship
Only good things can be expected from this collab as the shared song is not the first time the group and Lipa have been associated together. Back in June of 2018, Dua Lipa and the two members of Blackpink, Jennie Kim and Lisa Monaban, met as the two girls attended Lipa’s tour stop in Seoul. Both Lipa and Blackpink’s official Instagram posted about their encounter. Lipa

Why Blackpink is Perfect for an International Collaboration
In my opinion, I think Blackpink is truly perfect for a collaboration outside of Korean artist. True Blinks (Blackpink’s fanbase name) know that three out of the four members are not from Korea:
Jennie Kim
- Before becoming an official member of Blackpink, Jennie Kim lived in Jennie lived in Auckland, New Zealand for 5 years. From living in Brazil for a period of her life, Jennie acquired the English language and is now fluent in both Korean and English.

Rosé Park
- Like Jennie, Rosé was also born in Auckland, New Zealand and grew up in Melbourne, Box Hill. Rosé’s first language is English and she did not even speak fluent Korean before she joined Blackpink. Rosé and Lisa continue to work on their Korean starting from their training days and are both still improving their Korean now.

Lisa Monaban
- Lisa, the only non-Korean member, was born in Thailand and lived there until she was casted into Blackpink in 2011. Although Lisa’s English is not as strong as Jennie or Rosé , her accent is clear and sounds fluent. Lisa always brings the Thai culture and shares it with the group. Lisa’s non-Korean features also helps her in standing out in the group and grabbing many fans attention with her Thai features.

Although Jisoo was born and raised in Korea, the three international members often teach her the English language. Being that more than half of the group members are international, it only makes sense for the group to do a collaboration with artist around the world.
